Indoor Air Is 10-100 Times More Polluted Than Outdoor Air

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) studies have shown that the air inside today's homes is 10-100 times more polluted than outside air, and as homes become better insulated and more energy efficient, the problem gets worse. You can read what the EPA has to say in our News section.

Dirty coils in a home's heating and cooling system are a major cause of higher utility costs and often lead to system failure. The accumulation of household dust, smoke, pet hair and other airborne pollutants block the coil's air passages, making the system work harder to deliver the comfort your customers expect. Electronic air cleaners will remove airborne pollutants, making the system run cleaner and more efficiently, while saving money on monthly energy bills. 

There are many different choices available today for air filters and cleaners and it helps to understand the differences between an air filter and an air cleaner.

Filters consist of some kind of media that actually filter out particles of contaminants such as dust, lint, pollen, etc. They range from 99 cent 1" disposable filters to long lasting 6" media filters.

Air cleaners, on the other hand, use a process of electrical charging that causes the pollutants to adhere to a collection plate or media. Usually air cleaners also incorporate a pre-filter to remove large particles. There are several models available, some of which are shown below. These require either 110 volt or 24 volt power source.

Electrostatic air filters are a combination of both technologies. They rely on filtration and static electricity to charge and collect the pollutants. They are easy to use and economically priced.
